About

The Enderby Heritage Group was formed in December 2000, by a group of enthusiastic amateurs from the local community, with the clear aim of recording the Local History and Natural Heritage of the Parish.

. The group is non-profit making, with only a meeting fee of £2 to cover costs, and it is intended to provide opportunities to all, young and old alike, resident in the village or not, who would like to discover more about Enderby's heritage.

Aims

The aims of the group are:

  • To promote an appreciation of the history, architecture, landscape and wildlife of Enderby village and parish.
  • To encourage interest in the heritage of the community through a regular programme of meetings and parish walks organised by the group.
  • To encourage a sense of community in the village by undertaking special projects such as heritage exhibitions, surveys of the architecture, landscape and wildlife.
  • To interact with other organisations in the county and elsewhere with similar interests and aims as the group.
  • To act as a social focus for those interested in the heritage of the community providing opportunities for everyone.

Objectives

We are hoping that over time we can record and if necessary, protect the built, natural, cultural, archaeological, historical and industrial heritage of the parish, for future generations - whilst having fun and socialising with other groups and people along the way
